vavle adjustment on predator??

anyone adjust their vavles yet, i have a 2003 predator, that has approximately 1600 miles on and havent checked clearance yet. does anyone know what stock pads or shims are (thickness?) ? plus what size shims should i order?? polaris quoted me $39.80 for a set of 4. should i also get a new gasket for the head cover? thanks for any input.

the head cover gasket is reusable.....the stock pads thickness will vary, the numbers probably wore off so you'll have to get them mic'ed...the clearances are intake .006" (.010-.020mm) exhaust .010" (.020-.030mm) good luck let us know if you need anything else [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]

Just did mine a couple of weeks ago. 1st time and They were still within .002 and I was able to read the existing shim values with no problem. Check your gap with the motor Cold, take a reading and write it down for each valve, make sure your at TDC. you will have to remove the Cams to get to the shims, they are under the shim bucket. I found out that the Honda 450R along with several other bikes use the same Dia shim and you can pick up a whole kit for like $60 with several of each size but if you make a check and any need replacing, just do the math on buy the ones you need - about $8 each from Honda.
