Most harmonic balancer pullers will work for getting the flywheel off!

The flywheel is on the opposite side. Behind the recoil housing. Pull the bolts out around that, then the flywheel is right there.

I too was thinking of lightening my flywheel somewhere close to a "trail" mod, that way I can still use the e start. I would rather machine this myself since I have access to a machine shop at work, anybody get the trail mod done on theirs and know what was machined on it and possibly some dimensions? Thanks as always for the help!

trail mod lighten flywheel is around 1 lbs romoved and still using electric start, while a race mod flywheel is 2.3 lbs romoved (that from hpd),and no electric start anymore.
both give a better throttle response and help motor to build rpm faster whenever the positions is,the flywheel is located at the right side of the round housing case of the engine.

Do you know where the material was removed from? Was it the OD or face of the flywheel?

is trail lightening the flywheel usefull for the average trail rider? i'm just gettin used to the mods i've had done and was wondering how much difference doing this and adding a 39pwk carb and a hi-po ignition would make over what i've allready had done?

The trail lightened flywheell would be great for trail riding. It revs up noticeable faster. Anytime you can remove weight from rotating mass you are going to up performance. The Race lighten flywheel eliminates electric start and I just don't want to do that. The 39 pwk carb is by far a better performing carb than the stocker. The HPD ignition is a great product but have no first hand knowledge on how well it performs.
