myself and 4 others own explorers and all have problems with our throttle cables. we do know it is water creating the problem[throttle starts getting stiff and eventually sticking] and we have tried custom built cable, graphite lube, silicone lube,90 weight gear oil, atf,no lube, different routing, silicone on all joints to stop water from getting in but can't seem to solve problem.
we think it's due to the splitter butwe don't want to get rid of our oil injection.any suggestions would be appreciated.

you can take the splitter apart and clean it. then super glue it back together. also lube the lower cables good. make sure if these are on 400 exporers to clean out inside the oil pump housing too. i have a friend who has this problem with his mostly from water and mud. just gotta keep them lubed.
