So I have a 700 efi. I buy my 14 year old son a 400ex that has a yosi pipe, jet kit, kn air filter, and moded air box. He is so sure that he is going to finally beat his old man. Now for some history, the boy has been riding dirt bikes and such since he was 3 years old. Knows how to ride and rides well. BUT the last four years he has been on quads that are autos. He has not figured out how to launch the 400ex out of the hole, and he keeps shifting early dropping out of the powerband. Needless to say I am spanking him in drap races, and he is pi$$ed. Because he knows that he should be able to spank me in a race, but I keep hole shotting him and by time he gets up to speed, there is not suffient room to pass me. The race is about 1/4 mile long in a hayfield. So as I can ride, we switch and then I spank him with his 400ex, because it is faster, with a better rider. OOO youth gone mad. Kid gets a sport quad and his fat dad serves him on a utility quad. Been fun around here. I wish someone could see the look on his face each time I beat him. I know my days are numbered, but it is fun and I am sure it will be short lived.

Too funny. Once he learns how to launch, just put a clutch kit, or at least a stiffer primary spring, on the Sportsman for even harder launches to keep him wondering.
