800 efi
I currently own a 96 500 that has seen better days and have been drouling over the 800efi. I am wondering what kind of problems they have if any, and are there any major differences between the 700efi and 800efi. Also has anyone else hear about polaris coming out with a 900 next year?

800 CC's is the current government limate on these machines, which will probebly change soon, though a 500 H.O. EFI is suposed to come out for 06 or 07.
the 800s difference in power to the 700 is night and day, truely, the 800 has gobs of power and you wont be sorry with it. if you look around you'll see people have been having some problems with the EFI in the 7's and 8's which really isnt that big of a deal, with the engine suputtering at full throtle. but other then that, its a great machine, invincible if you ask me.

I have two 2004 700EFI's and typically the one my wife chose at the dealer while picking them up has had no flaws but mine on the other hand has had an electronic fuel pump go out after only 11miles on the odo, a coolant leak which was a loose water pump hose clamp, bad fitting plastic near the gas tank to side panel area, and some other real minor stuff which is all part of riding. oh and my foot brake goes to the floorboard right now but it's probably just needing air bled from the rear caliper which I'll get to sometime. overall the EFI has been a dream come true cause there is no choke to mess with, no 10 minute warm up period at cold start, no need to rejet a carb when changing altitudes etc. the EFI starts up and goes, my wifes cousin chuck got a 700 carb a little over a month after we got ours and now he wishes he would have gone with the EFI cause of the above reasons.

Yea after 40 MPH the 700EFI and 800EFI are very much alike. The 800 has got the lowend though. The 800 has about 5 MPH faster on topend, the 800 is a very fun quad to drive. It's got power everytime you hit the gas, it can pick the heavy front end up any time you want it to. Give one a test drive, you'll take one home with you I'm sure. I would have one now, but the dealers didn't get them in until Decmeber and I couldn't wait that long...

The Problem with the Sputtering has been mainley do to a bad coil in the machines. I have read allot of different forum's on this topic and they have all been fixed by getting the coil checked and replaced. Some Dealers have even found a bad coil in a machine still sitting on the showroom floor. I am guessing that there was a batch of defective coils that got assembled into the machine or in the thousands of coils that that get used for these machines you are bound to have a few defective ones.
