Default Extra weight for Glacier Plow

Anyone design any sort of weight for the glacier plow? I have a 60" and once there is some ice on the driveway, the blade goes right over it. I found out that if I have someone sit on the front rack and put some pressure on the blade ("Warning: Never allow passengers on vehicle or plow during operation", as it says), I can get it right down to bare pavement (I go really slow, and we are both very careful).

I was thinking of a way to put some weight on the blade to help. I have the top rubber deflector, so I can't really hang anything over the top of it. Also, any additions can't inhibit the plow's movement from side to side, up and down.

My grandfather is great with making cement molds (he has a garden railroad). I was thinking of maybe working on a long rectangle of cement that would mount on the back of the blade, the long way. Also, I do not want to interfere with the safety-tilt on the plow for when I catch the cracks in the driveway.

Anyone thought about this, with any good ideas? My brother is getting tired of sitting on the plow (and so am I, its hard to steer).

TIA
Tyler

when I worked on my buddies dirt track Limited race car we would go up to discount tire and they would give us buckets of old wheel weights which we put into an old iron pot and melted down with a torch or over a fire, then poured it into a cake pan or whatever shape you want to make it. when cooled down you have weights.

Thanks, that sounds like a good idea. I'll have to check that out. I was thinking that concrete would be too light, wheel weights seem more the right density.
