Yes he is going and I'll be doing the Paiute Trail while he is there. I would rather ride mine than look at one
. He has orders to bring the first 700 home to me. (thats if there is one) If it will be unvailed it has got to be the quietest anouncment in the industry.

I don't suspect that the 700 will have major hp. Polaris has never, ever put a high-performance engine in an atv yet. I just hope that it's not the same 4-stroke 700 that they put in sleds for the park service. It was definitely a poor setup. I believe it made about 42 hp (crank) and could muster about 45 mph top speed with the sled. Now that I think about it, it souuds just like the motor that Polaris would pick for an atv. Big and no guts. The sled div. probably wants to unload it.
They really need to dump the idiots in the atv division and get the guys that turned the sleds around into the atv div. It was only a couple of years ago that the Polaris 700 & 800 cc sleds were the biggest slugs on the snow. They could not get out of their own way and were terribly unreliable. Now they are some of the fastest sleds out there.
For some reason, I just don't see this happening with atv's at Polaris.

hahaha. YOur saying Polaris has no guts? ARe you mentally challanaged? If it werent for Polaris we would have no auto, long suspension, macpherson struts, true 4x4, push button 4x4, and most of all no SPORTSMAN 500. So just let the leader in invition do want they want with there guts, alright?

JACK I maybe wrong but wasn't it ARTIC CAT that had the 4stroke at Jellystone,Jack Welsh pres of BLUE Ribbon is in same snowmobile club as me and he is one that told us about it.Said it was so quiet that you have trouble hearing it run.And yes he said it was a SLUG about 40 horses, they had the HOOD wired shut so you couldn't see motor.I don't recall Polaris haveing a 4 stroke.I have had the 700 twin since first year they came out 97,I'd take exception about the slug thing,it was MTN sled of the year and has been ever since.I have the RMK and will keep up or out run the best of them, can't tell you anything about the XC,only what I have read.Maybe I just got good one but its no slug!!!!I constantly out run ARTIC CAT 700 and MTN MAX 700 that I ride with along with SummittX.See where Cat is putting out 100 - 4 stroke this year,50 go to jellystone and the other 50 spread around. Its thanks to the tree huggers that we have them, also that we aren't going to be riding in the park anymore.CM

i agree chickenman
i have been on a XC600 and that thing is not a slug it is very fast. i have never heard of a four-stroke sled by polaris. but i have heard of the artic cat ones.
the way i understand it sled and PWC sales are down nationwide, but ATV sales are increasing. polaris has a goal of $2billion in sales by 2002. they cant get there without new products to get new customers.with kawie having the 650 out polaris better "one up them" to hold on to market share of the big bore 4x4's
im sure that the 700 could easily put out 50hp if the 500ho can put out 38hp. but the torque and smothness would be unmatched.
