SP700 Carb Access Help
#1
Hello All
I have a 2002 SP 700. How exactly do you get to the carburetor to remove or work on it? What needs to be removed from the bike, and how or where are the attachment points of what needs to be removed? I do know how to remove the side panels. However after that, I cannot get my hands in to the carburetor area. In fact, it is also very difficult to get the plug wires off and remove the spark plugs. Very frustrating and my hands get all cut up from forcing them into areas where they really don’t fit! Thanks in advance for the help.

Well first you need to take of the right panel and the seat. Then you take off the air box. Then take off the bracket that is attached to the carb and the the carb comes right out of easy access. I am not sure how you get the cabels unatached. But you can still work on it.

Hey Parkerman,
Thank you for the reply.
I know it's a basic question, but I've done very little real work on my own bikes. I've always taken them in to the repair shop.
I need to start doing as much as I can on my own now.
Thanks again.

You also need to take the vent tube off from the tranmission (besure to put a rag down it the hole to keep anything from falling in it). The choke cable just screws out and the throttle cable you have to take the 3 or 4 little screws out of the cover on the carb. Then release the cable and unscrew it from the carb.
