You can slot the tabs on the pickup coil and advance the timing a couple of degees , I have a 40mm off 500 scrambler and this really improved throttle response !

I don't know anyone around here that has the 800 yet so I haven't compared. I can tell you that it has alot more tourqe than it had stock. I can put it in low hit the throttle without pulling on the handlebars and it will stand straight up and it will do rolling wheelies. I can put it in high and make it stand straight up but I have to pull on the handlebars to do it. I think thats pretty good considering I still have a bog at take off when I nail it. Everything is working great with the minor mods I did for the 800 pipe.I think it runs about the same temp, fan runs about the same as it did with the Y pipe. ] [/quote]

I slotted mine to the point where it got pretty close to the edge

For instance , looking from the flywheel side , the crank turns " Clockwise " , so you need to slot the tabs on the pickup so you can slide it oposite direction of rotation " move it to to the left "

I'm sure there are ways to make an adjustable bracket , but this is easy and the whole job only takes 15-20 minutes

When I get the time to figure how to do it , I'm going to try bumping the timing 4 degrees , but I'm sure 91-93 octane will be required

Hope this Helps

One other thing !

The other improvement you'll notice by advancing the timming is , when it's cold , and you don't let it fully warm up , when you open the throttle a little too quick because your trying to drive off , it may still bog a bit , but it won't backfire and spit out the carb !

You have to remove the engine side caseing opposite the clutch side

There's no oil in there so you don't have to drain it

For a stock engine , 2 degrees , not a problem , .........and because you have installed a longer duration cam , you could probibly move 4 degees and still run regular fuel ! This is because your cylinder pressure [ compression ] during the compression stroke will be slightly less because of longer duration on closing of the intake valve

As we discussed earlier though , you won't get more than 2 degrees by sloting the tabs , so from there it's either some type of bracket or you'll need to pull the flywheel and put in an offset key

Hope this helps
