Default 02 500 Scram: stock hp? +speedo question

Scrambler guys seem to be reading this post so hear is my question? My new belt is slipping just a little bit, but it is obvious. What other clutch maintainance needs to be done? it is a 2002 Scrambler 500 HO. Someone told me about buttons in the clutch that wear out. Is this an easy fix for me to do myself. Housing is still off, just need some guidance. I was also told to cut a hole in the airbox lid and put a filter over the hole and rejet. Has anyone done this to the 500? How big do I cut the hole and what size jet do I need to get? Also what is a good clutch spring wand whights to go with?

Your problem would be a worn belt as well. Try a new belt first. If the button in the secondary clutch are worn, then you would notice a obvious loss in performance. As far as cutting the airbox, dont. The scrammy has a CV carb and needs more than just rejetting with a modded airbox. You are better off getting HPD's airbox mod. It has a huge scoop and everything you need to rejet and recalibrate the carb.

Can I buy direct from HPD or a dealer. What about the clutch springs, what do you recommend on them.

You can buy direct from them, or from Rick Ritter at rittercycle.com He sells HPD products as well. Give him a call (he usually answers the phone). Tell him what you have, what type of riding you do, and how you want the machine to perform. He will set you up with a custom kit for your needs. His customer service is second to none
