I would like to revise my last report. Upon further inspection, using the procedure the manual calls for for checking the oil, the oil is showing well above the top hole of the safe zone, in the area of the swirl in the stick. I checked my neighbors machine which is a 2004 700, with the original oil and it shows the exact same place on the dipstick (using the manuals procedure). From this you can draw your own conclusions. I will make note of where it reads on the dipstick and continue using the 2 quarts of oil at oil change.
