Burning a lot of fuel means your problem is not oil injection related. Your fouling plugs because your getting too much gas.

Your best best is if you are somewhat mechanically inclined, pick up a manual and that will help you understand the carb. If not I suggest you leave cleaning and dissassembly to someone who knows what they are doing. If it has not been rejetted it is most likely something in the choke circuit.

Thanks, I do think your right on this one. I WILL HAVE IT LOOKED AT BY A PRO. LIKE YOURSELF!!!!!. We only have about 4-5 miles of trails at the cabin. With any luck on only drive 5-8-miles per week-end and i my use up to 2-2.5 gal of gas. is that a lot for this 4x4?????.......You were very helpful..... Buy the way someone had the deehunter name so I spelled my name as dearhunter.

Yes that is way to much gas for any stock type machine. I would bet you don't have to choke it at all to get it started when its cold. The exhaust is probably pretty smelly also. You can probably check the choke to see that it is moving back and forth in the carb yourself. Having it run way to rich is way better than too lean and burn a hole in the piston. It should be a realitively fix.

Dearhunter, now I get it and I like it.

Ok, I started withe the air cleaner, and yes it was dirty, I i removed it. Yes it runs better. I will install a new one this weekend comeing 3-26-05. I still think it is useing to much gas. I will back off the pilot air screw untill it seats lightly. Then i will turn it out 1-1\2 turns as it states in the book. I would have done this yesterday but i needed a small screwdriver. But how do i ajusted the carb.???? I just don't understand the book on that. again thanks for your help.

Xcrider. so far you are right on the money. I put a new air cleaner in my 1994 300 two st/ I also ajusted the fuel needel, of which I found was almost closed, so I backed it out one and one half turns. The motor runs much better with that seting. after takeing it for a ride the motor go hot and stoped. I tried to start it but it would not ture over. Ater leting it sit and cool i was abel to start it, but before doing that i mixed my gas with 100 to one mix. now thak Gog it runs geat. can you tell me way after ajusting the proper air mix i had this freaze up???. Do you think I should lower the amount of oil i put into the gas or should i keep it at 100 to one. again thanks for your help.. is there anyone else with help???? the deerhunter

If it got hot and quit you are too lean on fuel. Richen it up! Your lucky you didn't burn a hole in the piston.

I think that a 100:1 is pretty lean on the oil as well. I would probably do something closer to 50:1. Why not just put back your oiljector? At low rpms it meters the oil on the lean side and at WOT it pumps more oil to help with the extra load on the motor.

Xcrider, Thanks for comeing back so fast. I did not diconnect the oiler. I just added the oil to the gas to be on the safe side. I keep oil in my oil tankat all times. How far would you back the mixture out? At first as I said it was almost all the way in seated., so we backed it out one and one half turns. My friend has a exporer 250 "2000 model" and he adds about one once per gal to be on the safe side. He never has any promblem with his machine. We both drive our machine very slow thrur the woods, and trails. If I open my bike up its only for a short time on our main road comeing into the cabin 1800 at its longest side. It also doe not smoke like it did.
