Ther is a difference, but all in all it wasnt that much of a difference to me to sacrifice the convenience of having the starter. Mine is hard to start because i plugged the pressure relief for the pull start. My 250's dont have the starters on them. I can pull them with one hand no problem. For some reason I cant do my 400
