Default Polaris Reverse Override

Does anyone have instructions on how to override the reverse override switch? I would like it so that I don't have to hit that button any longer.
Is it just a wire ground that needs to be done?
I have an 04 600 Sportsman. Let me know.
Thanks

what you have to do is get a four pin 12volt relay, and some 6" pieces of wire with the colors listed below. solder the wires to the relay terminals listed to the correct color wire. put heat shrink over the soldered terminal to seal from water/moisture. remove the gauge pod and locate the wires shown, you will have three brown wires(brown/red, brown/white, brown) find the all brown wire and make sure it isn't one with a stripe. the purple wire should be purple with a white stripe on your machine, this is the one which gets spliced to the "purple wire". I used scotch locks to attach the relay/wires to the factory wiring but am going to remove them and permanetly splice/solder them on and I cut the wires and added a four wire connector also cause with the mod installed you nolonger have control over the yellow button to change the trip/tach/hours display. this way I can disconnect the mod for the summer and connect it for the winter to plow. but you can decide what to do for yourself. I will try to take pics of my kit when I get home, I am in canada right now for work so I'll be home monday evening.

Relay terminal #30 connect to Polaris brown wire
Relay terminal #87 connect to Polaris wire gray/orange
Relay terminal #86 connect to Polaris wire red/white
Relay terminal #85 connect to Polaris wire purple

Easiest thing to do is use a tie-strap to keep the button down. That way, all you have to do is slip it off if you ever want the normal functionality back.

If you ever get a nearly 800 lb machine stuck in the mud, up to the frame in snow, or just plowing, it is nice to have power to all 4 wheels without havin g to try to push or pull on the machine, and not have to push the button too. Just 1 time will change your mind, but that is just my 2 cents..... In fact I am looking at modding mine this week ....

Couldnt you just put a switch on the override circuit, so it was like holding the button down? And when you wanted normal functionality, just turn it off?

Tyler711,
Yep with a few small work arounds it is possible, in fact I just came back from the garage where I just completed the Reverse override and 3 Head light mod an my '03 700. I just need to get some permanent sealed switches mounted now.....

Here is some info on those mods over at the Frontier. Snowride is the guy to talk to over there, he'll hook you up with the goodies for the override and 3 light mods

So zMan, would just putting a small switch in place of (or in addition to) the existing override switch work? Off for normal operation, on for override (with no odometer function changing when on)?
