Andy G,
First, remove the left rear tire, than remove the 4 ''LOWER ONLY'' 3/8 screws from the outter black fender flare.

Remove the 4 Phillip screws that hold down the left side floor board, there will be 7/16 nuts on the other side of these screws. You can now pull the floor board away from the cover. It will give you ample room to remove your belt cover. It's really alot easier than it first appears.

I'll be doing a few of these spring mods real soon on my friend Barry's 325 Magnum, and Anthony's 250 Trail Boss.I'll let you guys know the results.===Bill

Thanks Bill
Yeah I figured the floorboard had to come off. Ive had the other side floorboard off a couple times to adjust the center chain and replace a broken sprocket, and like you said it looks worse than it is.
I am deffinaly going to put in a green spring.
Iam going on a 3 day ridding trip the weekend after next so i think Ill wait till I get back to put it in for fear of screwing something up...lol

Latter

Have you told your dealer that you found the problem's solution by yourself? Was wondering if he was surprised or offered any apology or refund for not finding the right solution. You may tell him you will trade him the "fix" info for parts and free future service.

Trust me Bill, there is a huge difference. It is physically impossible that there not be. The EPI has springs, weights and a new helix. I think your EPI install was not done right on your Sportsman. I fealt a hell of a difference on mine.

I think it is like the roller clutch situation. Most love it, but some did not see any difference. I just had one put in and it is like night and day!

Plus, for 259$ canadian it better show some results. (it did) And if it does not lower drag times, it indeed changes power utilisation/distribution. Maybe lots faster from 0 to 35mph and backs off after??? Like most mods it adds somewhere and takes off elsewhere...

I put a white primary spring in my 325 Trail Boss when :I had it and it gave it a little more low end I could wheelie a little easier but I would suggest to get the green and it would be even better. I think I will put the white spring in my dads Explorer and see what happens. Thanks Bill my muffler also had mud in it made a big difference when cleaned out I took the carb out and cleaned it and put a new fuel filter on before and it made no difference.

Doc,
I said nothing to the dealer,im pissed I payed for labor to install a belt and the outcome was the same as when I brought the quad in.All this time it was a clogged exaust.

Will,
I cant comment on the white spring.I did install it first, however,it was installed while the exaust was plugged so I cant comment on it's performance vs the green spring,
Bill

Bill,

Did you go back to no EBS on the Xplorer, and if so, how much would you let me take the EBS off your hands for? Thanks.

Bottom line is you got it fixed and it runs better now than ever and you're happy with that. Glad to hear you're rolling, again.

Hey Bill!! Bosty Here I am real interested in the green spring too. In fact I am goint to call Rick Ritter Monday. I would really like to know more about the top end speed, and if it was affected very much. I just rolled over 250 miles on my new baby and man do I love it. In your opinion would the spring help me if I don't mud. I don't mud very much I would just like to get a little more performance out of my machine. Thanks for the info Bill!
