Default Storage area on 05 Sportsman

My front is warped alittle at the corners, but doesn't leak, then again I don't run it under deep water, hard to find here in NM. My rear storage gets water in it every time I wash the machine...its leaking in through the rear cover.

I have a couple of idea's, one is to get a large O-ring to install instead of the quad-ring that they use. I just need to find the O-ring.....

Hey Elkbow, look inside of the storage box at the top rear corners... I'll bet that is where it leaks. Push up on the inside rear of the
compartment just inside the door and you'll see what I mean. The silicone is still drying on mine, but I will retest it when I get her
put all back togather.

I asked my dealer and he said if you wanted a personal watercraft thats what you should have bought. He added the water should never go higher than the floor boards. I almost pi$$ed my pants laughing so hard. Anyway good luck getting a fix from Polaris.

Seanny, sorry, did you already silicone your rear compartment halves togather??? I never read that post if you did, but if son, did you completely dissassemble it to do it??? I finished putting togather mine today, including the new red rack extendors, front brushguard, rear bumper and handguards Looks a lot cooler now! Anyways, I can't imagine my rear storage compartment ever leaking again. I filled the groove in the lower half, and applied more inside and out. After it dried overnight it is solid. But I guess time and muddy trails
will tell Dan.

Just carry extras like a belt and tow rope, etc. and use a different container for dry stuff.

seanny, danno WHY can't Polaris just produce a ONE piece rear box! then the only area that would be subject to leaking would be the door!

i just don't understand Polaris on this one.

They just want to sell all of us a lock and ride rear box. heard it doesnt leak at all. 04 and older rear storage boxes dont leak at all. id say theyre going backwards. mine gets wet from the splash of a 3in deep puddle. fills up when i go through a real puddle.

just a suggetion, i leave the drain plugs out and everything acctually stays a little drier.
