Hey guys,

I got a buddy looking at a 1998 Polaris Sport 400L and i was looking for specs. I was wonderring if it had the 6.7inches front suspension or had they attained 8.2/ 8.5 by then. also how much rear? 9 or 10.5? fox rear remote reservoir shock or no? Also how do they stack up against my scrambler X. with no mods i figured they'd run about side by side. ( i know the two stroke can be built a lot easier... it's actually a selling point.) Effectively i was wonderring if anyone has a horsepower rating and a reliability report on one of these machins... much apprecieted cya on the trails.

It is an Ok bike ... Careful on auctions ... Top dollar on auction in great condition is about $2200 . In average shape $1300 would be tops .

UHHHHH I think the long suspension started in 99....I have a 97 with 99 front long travels on it. My rear has a fox with a remote. It is the shorter one. My machine has never been opened. The only mod is an air filter, and I opened the air inlet a little. My power is way down. It used to wheelie in stock trim easily. Now it wouldn't do one until I pulled the boot off the airbox and cut the inlet bigger. I have done many updates to mine just to keep it rideable. Nothing major. Just every bushing in the steering, motormounts, driven clutch buttons, clutch covers, battery, front shocks, 2 new arms chain tensioner, front sprocket, oringed chain, brakes front and back, throttle cable, this was all due to neglect from the PO my friend. If it was taken care of it probably won't need hardly any of that stuff. Keep the clutch covers in mind, and the driven clutch buttons, age takes a tole on these parts so it seems.

Good luck.

Ohh and by the way. I stay on the tail of a new 500ho scrambler even though my quad is a little tired. I think I could beet it in a drag. I never tried. I pull up to him a lot in the woods trailriding. He can't seem to shake me easily.
