Default Tach ?

Hey there guys, i have been browsing your forum and there seems to be some pretty smart people on here, so i have a question, I have a '98 explorer 400 and I want to do some clutch tuning, but i need to hook up a tach so i went today and got 2 tachs, a 6 pulse and a 2 pulse, they are off polaris sleds, the 6 pulse is off a 700 xc the other i dont know. There is a brown wire and yellow wire coming from both, and i need to know where to hook them, i will try both to see which one works, or if someone could tell me that would be better. Any help will be appreiciated.

Thanks for the info dooho, but i think i might have done something wrong. I connected the yellow to the yellow with red stipe that comes off my rev limiter because that was the only wire i have that is yellow with red stripe, then i connected the brown wire to its own male plug on my terminal board. The 2 pulse tach doesn't seem to work it jumps all over the place, now the 6 pulse seems to work better but it won't read until 3,000 rpm the it seems to work good, it reads 5800 rpm when i'm wide open, so what i'm wondering is if this is common or not, i would like it to be more accurate. Thanks again

I got my tiny tach today and hooked it up. It does have a lag to it but is still very usefully for my clutch tuning.

I'm glad you got it figured out that bfh could have done some damage lol. Happy trails
