scrambler 440?
#1
i wish polaris would build a sport quad using their 440 edge sled motor, and a man trans,i have never really liked polaris quads because my freinds older ones are always broke down but the newer ones seem to be getting alot better.it just seems that polaris has the technoligy and the motors to build a real contender in the sport market so why dont they,i also hear rumors of a 950-1000 twin prototype sled being tested,if they used one cylinder from that motor or their 800 rmk iam pretty shure it would smoke their current scrambler 400,or anything else, reason being that the 800 rmk makes aprox 130hp,also the 440 edge motor is good for 106 hp stock,if polaris would ante up i would be pretty tempted to trade my new raptor

i dont know where u get ur info from but the edge 440 ( i have one) only puts out 100-1006hp on race gas. sure if u wanna spend 4-7 bucks a gallon for 114 octane fuel just to trail ride be my guest but i wouldnt. and for the 850-1000cc twin coming out dont hold your breath on that one they will spend their time for the next couple of years updating their 700 and 800 twin putting exhaust valves on,etc.

i get my info from people close to polaris employes and polaris employes themselves.i ride sleds at burges junction in the big horn mountains in wy.and you see sleds being tested there,i rode a pre production 800 rmk there and guys were saying they wouldnt build it either, and ive seen a psi dyno sheet on a 440 it said 106 stock, mabey it was on race gas but exact horse power wasnt my point, they could de tune the motor to say 80hp and it would still have twice as much as a banshee,

I have a 99 trailblazer with an 800 twin complete it weighs 425lb about 45lbs more than a banshee with 4 times the hp,all on 87 octane. The only problem with it is you can't trailride it,any unintentional push on the throttle can lead to unfaverable results.sometimes more power is't the answer.
