2005 700 EFI Wiring Question
Hello:
I had my 700 out in a little mud this week. I hosed it off and was looking things over and noticed something that does not look right. If you look under the left front fender up high you will see the coils. Anyway the spark plug wires plug into it so I assume they are the coils. There are 3 wires that plug into the coils with a little block. The wires are red , green and yellow. Question is this: Out of the same shrink wrap that these 3 wires come from there is also a solid red wire and braided wire without a cover. They are just hanging there and look like they should be connected on the coil somewhere. The braided one seems to probably be a ground of some kind but I have no clue as to the red one. Maybe they are just some spare wires. Seems to run fine. Perhaps you 700 efi owners could take a look at yours and let me know if you have the same spare wires at your coil or can see where they are connected.
Thanks

2005 700 EFI Wiring Question
Are you talking about the left front fender area? Thats where the coil is mounted. There are the two main plug wires towards the front and then 3 small wires and a connector that plug into the rear, I think they are red, green and yellow, with stripes. I do not see any extra wires hanging there. What gauge wire are you talking about? On the right front fender area, the cables for the winch are mounted up high in there....Can you take a pic with a digital camera and host/post or send to me?
I can take a pic of mine if you would like....

2005 700 EFI Wiring Question
Hello Dave:
Thanks for the reply. You and I are talking about the same thing. The coils under the LF fender. Wire colors are correct. The sheath that the 3 wires to the block come out of and go to the coils ( the red green and yellow is correct). I also have a braided uncovered wire coming out of the sheath and a solid red wire coming out. The red is the same guage as the other 3. Hard to tell with the braided as it is kinda frayed. I will try to take a pic and send it to you this evening. As I say the 700 seems to run fine but it seems odd to have a couple wires hanging there. If nothing else it is pretty sloppy looking.
Thanks:
Bob
