Not to spoil the stew but you can buy the receiver which bolts on in 5 minutes from Cabela's for about $49 if I recall. I have one on my 400 Sportsman. If you have a '04.5 Sportsman you will need to cut off a little section of the back top corner to clear the newer transmission case. '04 and previous requires no mod. The receiver will handle a standard draw bar/ball combo.
As for the Hitch Haul...have one of those too. It's OK but don't expect to load it with a bunch of weight. I put my Labrador's Kennel on it and put him in it and at 92 pounds, the leverage will pretty much take your front tires off the ground on rougher terrain. I'd post pictures of each but it's a pain in the azz on this site so I won't bother.

If you look on my photo page you will see some photos of the rack and receiver I made for my 2005. It is similar to the one that polarisbear500 was explaining. Because my rack is also secured to the ATV's back rack support bracket it does not rattle and is very stable.

i don't know if you read my mind when you got that hitch or what, but that is real similar to the diagram i drew up for sportsman70003, haha. i thought that was weird when i looked at your pics. by the way, that i very nice too
