midway though a long hard ride it wants to start pop'n and cutting out and then dies.
I have to take the hose off the fuel pump to the carb and blow though it to get it to start again and then I'm good for another hour or two. Any help would be great. Thanks

I think you should take the carb off, take it completely apart soak it in gas or paint thinner overnight, then take a air compressor and blow through all the holes in the carb and make sure they're not clogged. Then put it all back together and try it.

switch to reserve and problem goes away? fuel filter clogged? bad gas? water in gas? carb vent tubes free and clear? checked air filter?

sounds like an air or fuel delivery problem for sure....... most likely fuel.

do you ride alot of water?

just a few things to check.......

Are you blowing into the carb or fuel tank? If your blowing into the tank you either have a blocked tank vent or crud in your tank. If your blowing into the carb you most likely have a blocked vent to the carb.
