WD40 will work but not as long. Just make sure get it inside the boot where the ball n socket joint is with the lil tube. Clean it outside off as good as can so dirt dont fall inside (if you have been in any) There are 4 of them. Ya mine was driving me batty.

The older models had a grease fitting on the upper bearing, my 800 does not have a fitting but the hole is there for it under the headlight. I will be installing one shortly.....

Can you take a picture of where you are putting it on the 800 ? Mine was driving me crazy too but mine was actually coming from the cap on the top of the spring, I flushed that out good and it stopped. Sounded like it was coming from the pod cause both sides were making the noise at the same time.

Standing in front of the quad look directly under the headlight at the upper bearing clamp, mine has a hole right in the middle of that clamp. I'm going to install a 45 or 90 degree zerk fitting there.....

i removed the rubber boots over the linkage joints and sprayed them out good with carb cleaner and the greased them with water proof boat trailer grease. no more squeeking and it steers easier than it did when it was new.

A little off topic but get a grease needle( a needle with a grease zerk) and slip it under the tierod end boot and pump some grease in there. The more grease the less water and mud will stay in there.....

well it's friday so I am going to load up the truck and trailer today but before I do I am going to spray the steering shaft/column with triflow, it's sort of a white grease but sort of melts/dries clear unlike white lithium which sticks to everything and stays white. thanks for the help everyone, that is what I love about the atvconnection.
