Are the 2005 Polaris Trailblazer 250 2 Strokes as "peppy" or quick as a 2005 sportsman 500 H.O? (its the only thing ive rode to compare it too)

The simple answer is no. It will handle a little better, but it is a lot lighter. You can add mods to make it quicker, but it will never have the grunt the 500 HO has.

Off the line the TrailBlazer would probably be quicker, but Im sure the Sportsman would catch up and blow by the TrailBlazer.
TrailBlazers only do about 40-45 mph and are only about 18 hp, they arent exactly what you might call "fast".

In stock form the 250 is 22hp and the SP will beat it hands down. But the 250 can be built to easily beat a 500ho. You can get close to 50hp from these motors but it will cost some $$$. On the trails the 250 will beat it because it is way more nimble than the SP.

Like 2manytoys said, it can add up. How deep are your pockets? If you're looking for the best bang for the buck, call Rick at Ritter Cycle, he can set you up with what you need. A stage 1 kit is only 325, and it's a good start on building up the quad.
