Default Little explosion

I have 2002 500 h.o sp with 1500 miles and 147 hours . Bone stock engine, only modifications is rear tires 25*11*12 and 700sp belt.
I was riding on Sunday , here is the result http://users.kymp.net/monkkarit/aattori.html (sorry only finish)
Only thing that wasnt destroyed is clutch outlet.
Has anybody else happened something like this? If so please inform me!

Unbelievable. Did you get hit by any shrapnel? I have heard of clutches fracturing from too much heat. What were you doing before it turned loose?

Default Little explosion

Here is some pictures on our Sunday riding http://users.kymp.net/monkkarit/saaramaa290505.html

In the last picture is me and my sp just couple minutes after the blow out( me laying on the ground). We were taking a brake about 30 minutes so the man and the machines were "cool" , I was going to take a **** I didnt hit or heard anything unusual, I was riding without helmet. Warranty is completed, I send all the pieces to Finlands Polaris importer.
I am affraid that they say , sorry your fault. I dont even dare to think what this will cost me.

a former co-worker had a 500 H.O. that grenaded his clutch. I didn't look at your pics, but his machine was out of warranty and Polaris still covered it. It literally destroyed his clutch and clutch cover. Lucky he wasn't hit by any shrapnel.

I wouldn't think Polaris will warranty it based on the age and mileage. How did the secondary clutch make out? Any damage to it? I'd search ebay for another clutch rather than buy new. Looks like the only salvagable part is the primary spring. Do you use low range for climbing and slow speed riding? This will keep the clutch from getting too hot and cracking. Make sure nothing is restricting airflow from the breather snorkel too.

I use low speed in forrest, climbing etc. Secondary clutch is good for nothing even the inner clutch cover is broke.
It is easier and cheaper to you guys buy from ebay or atv stores. I have to pay shiping in Finland and taxes vat is 20%.
I was planning to buy 800 efi, but I realy dont know now it depends importer and Polaris.
Kawasaki brute force looks great....
