Just as the title states. Today after a 5 minute idling warm-up, (15* temps) I hooked onto my snowmobile trailer to put it away with my '04 Scrambler and just as I got onto the quad & before I could even touch the throttle a huge explosion took place.
I immediatly turned off the engine not knowing yet what happened and looked over to see 1/2 of my oil tank laying 25 ft away in the snow & other various pieces on the righthand side of the quad & oil everywhere!! Yes, it was very violent!!
I have not yet investigated, but my only simple thought is the crankcase vent tube being iced up?? Dunno?? But I would think it shoulda just blown the line off the fitting before the tank would explode??
Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.

The filter doesn't to my knowledge. Iceing is the only thing I question on the vent line. It's last oil change was in November, right before it got cold here. I was playing pretty hard 3 days ago in the snow, ( alot of snow build-up on the machine) but had it in the garage to thaw out afterwards. So, maybe moisture & iced back up?? I'll try blowing thru the line in the morning.
