i own a 1996 polaris trailboss 250. one of my buddies has a 1993 polaris 350. these are not bad atvs but arnt the best. i had to replace starter and drive because of water leaking through the seals it rusted up beyond repair. the people i bought it from let it sit for 2-3 years so the seals in the gas tank went bad and leaked. it still doesnt idle worth a flip but it runs great. once i got everything fixed it has ran great every since. one of my other buddies has a 2002 honda rancher es. it is the most comfortable atv i have ever drove. it is also very reliable to. it has never left him stranded. although you always have to pull out the chock to start the honda while i can turn my key and it'll start right up (strange). polaris is not a bad choice of atv because i drive mine alot more and alot harder than he drives his honda. so buy what you think is best for you and your needs.

i used to own polaris and actually used to work at polaris so this is just my personal experience. they are deffinately higher maintanence machines then the other brands, i have been around. i have seen alot of things in the making of these machines that turned me off right away to them and well the only reason i owned them was the discount. after i quit there i went to arctic cat which is only about 60 miles from the polaris factory (don't work there just own the machines) and i have had awesome luck, the only time i change oil is when i actually drown the darn thing out. these things have been great for me as my parents foreman's have for them my buddies 660 grizz has for him and the prarie's and bombadiers and well i guess i don't need to go on we would be here all day but, i demand a higher quality of my machine then alot of people i put on about 1500 hard miles each year live on a farm and i have found that in arctic cat as to what i need and demand in a fourwheeler. if you people find that in a polaris that is great keep buying them cause it means the area i live in is better off all around, alot of my best friends work there. but i have seen a pattern since the first of the year arctic cat is doing great getting in alot of orders and keeping busy and alot of my friends at polaris are getting laid off and my buddies gf after working there for 3 years is now being put on night shift so it is starting to show how they are being perceived as being higher maintanence is starting to affect sales when the economy isn't as strong for anything that has a motor. this is just my experience and if anyone has any comments on this situation please feel free to message me.

Oil field, land surviers, and the like all choose polaris for its simplicity in diesign, off roadability, and driveability. It's funny you read post about my polaris had 3000 miles on it and the ball joint went out, or a seal started leaking. These things are built by man and ball joints will go out, and seals will fail. My scrammy 400 has 500 miles in the last 3 months give or take and the thing just keeps begging for more. Heck i changed the plug and now even if i sit on the tank it'll yank the wheels up! I love my polaris because its easy to ride, easy to work on, easy to find parts and the people who ride them are not stuck up Jap supporting complainers. I was bout to get a 450 honda, but it got stuck in a little mud hole (had to roll it out side over side!) and my best freinds Odessey spanked it all over the place, and i didnt want to mortage my new house to get the 650! So keep your chain tight, joints greased, fluids up and fresh (HUBS!), cluch cover permatexed, and the coolant system topped of with the proper amount of water wetter and they will all get you where you need to go, some just get you there faster.
