Mine did the same thing. First it showed a E in reverse only. Then it went away and showed N in reverse. Its not your linkage so dont mess. take the 2 switches off the transmission and inspect for dirt and bad connections. If they look good and your still getting a E then replace the switch. Its around 60.00 sorry I cant remember what switch it was Iam in the house now but I think it was the rear. the switch is like a toggol switch and its a sign that its not making a clean click. Good luck

Oh ya I forgot to mention. Check your 4x4 in reverse override. It might not let you have 4x4 in reverse. thats a sure sign it the switch.

Thats an error code, check your manual, the linkage could be off and in between gears.

luckycharms5,

You may have a short or something grounding somewhere. Not sure if you have any mods or not, but I had a very similar problem. My Reverse light (which I mounted to the plastic rack) mount had worked a little loose and was touch the metal frame that runs around the rear side of the rear plastic rack (Mind you I tested all of my wires and pulled my hair out before discovering this). It basically completed the ground and the light would stay on all of the time. It also completed a ground back to the Purple wire in the Pod , and it would send an E to the Speedo except when I was in Reverse. I did get ovverride in reverse with the yellow button and my RO Ovverride switch, but I would not see the AWD light on in any of the forward gears. I did not do a test up on the jacks, but just from riding it felt like I never engaged AWD. I put a rubber spacer and all is well now.....

Here is a link to my post about my problem:
E on Pod/Electrical Problems

Hope this helps,
