Do I need to prime the oil pump?
For the first oil change I would remove the screen located in the lower oil delivery hose and remove the screen fitting (3) from
the oil tank. Clean and reinstall the fitting,Reattach the oil line. torquing to 25 ft. lbs. This screen will catch any metal filings that may be in the oil.
When I did the one on my 500 there was nothing in the screen but I wanted to be safe anyways.
NOTE: The fitting threadsmust be sealed with Loctitet PST 505 or PTFE seal tape. The fitting must also line up with the mark (4) on the
rear side of the oil tank.
After this you will have to prime the oil pump
