such as the new 250ex? something like that? there are tons of Recons and bayous and there will be allot of 250ex's around mainly due to low price and shaft drive, i know a few people who drive 250 machines and would love an auto but not chain drive.

The 325 Magnum 2x4 is just over $4000, has the big Polaris stance and chassis and though can't keep up with the big dogs, is a great rig for the money. I bought one a week after we bought my boys 325 TrailBoss. We've since traded that in on a 425 Expedition for him, and I got a Sportsman, but we kept the 325 Mag for an extra ride. I sometimes ride it when I'm letting someone try out the Sportsman, and I am always impressed by the good ride, handling and suspension, even after coming off the sportsman. It's just not
a hot ride like the others.
It is shaft drive with Hi/Lo and AutoTranny.. and goes almost everywhere the 4x4's go..just not as fast.

up here you cannot touch a 325 mag for anything but list i think it is 4599. It is a great machine , got a freind who rides one. and i think it is way better than a Recon or Bayou.

I would hope that a quad (Polaris 325) which cost $1000 more than a Recon or Bayou is better, otherwise it would be a waste of money!

I wonder why Polaris hasn't targeted the entry level shaft drive quads? Maybe they will in the future.

When I was shopping for a bike a month ago, the recons were 3599 and I got my Magnum for 3800. No 1000 dollar waste of money there. The Magnum also was the size of a full sized machine which was appealing to me. Some of the manufacturers make their smaller engine models, smaller all the way around. I love my Magnum and I think it is a much superior quality to any of the others. Don't get me wrong - I own Honda products too. Lawn mowers, weed whackers and a generator and they are wonderful, but I got my quad of choice.
By the way - I think Polaris has targeted the entry level shaft drive quad arena, I own one.

I Picked up my Mag. 325 2X4 during Polaris end of year sale for almost $4k even. The low range is great along with the shaft drive.

once again not dissing the Recon and Bayou, just saying that the Mag 325 is better and should be it retails for 1000 more, I can't find one for anywhere close to what you guys are paying, I found a used one for 3800! he ended up trading it in on a 99 SP they gave him 3700 dollars towards it. The market for atv's up here are brutual when it comes to trying to buy one. But you get top dollar on trades. but you also pay top dollar.

There is no way I would pay $100 over MSRP to purchase a Recon at $3599. Maybe, the Magnum is Polaris answer for the entry level quad. Its not in the same category as the Bayou, Recon & other 250cc machines from Suzuki, & Arctic Cat. Its cost and size put it in another category.

Just as you believe you are riding the best buy purchasing a Polaris, there are people out there people out there riding other brand that TOO think they are riding the best.

Up here in our area they are having killer sales.

Big Bear 4x4 $4799, Kodiak, $5599
Sportsman 500 (2000) $5999, Prairie 400 4x4 $5399. Banshee $4999.

This is a good time to buy, snowmobile season is right around the corner.

Hey snowshark -
I do believe I am riding the best choice and that is why I posted that on the Polaris board. Seems to me that would make sense to you also. If I had bought another brand, I would be posting on one of the other boards. I am so happy with my choice, that I don't even read any of the other boards. Are you hanging out here with us 'cuz your having second thoughts about your choice?
You can give me your thoughts on where to post my Polaris joy, when you see it on your other brands board.

An extremely happy POLARIS owning Houndog

Houndog,

Yeah, I like you visit with the Polaris guys on these forums. I do read the Polaris forum along with all the others manufacturers. Check the Honda forum & you will find some of your fellow Polaris owners replying to threads. I was just answering the original post, that why I was hanging out. Your question "Am I wishing I purchased another brand?" The answer to your question is NO. Not at this time, if my Honda was to blow up or something then I would reconsider. So far the Hondas are working great. Will I buy Honda in the future? Don't know the answer to that. I will purchase whats best for my needs & has the best options. I am not a diehard Honda fan. If my machines don't live up the quality & reliability, then I will purchase something else.

Being from the North Dallas area you probably know where Reliable Cheverolet is in Richardson, Central express way & Arapahoe. To make a long story short, the S-10 Blazer, was my first new Chevy purchased & my last. Because, the Blazer, blew a transmission at 60,000 miles. I know people who have chevy trucks with 150,000 miles & they run fine. I had a bad experience so, no new chevy's in my future.

I am leaning towards a Polaris, its a RMK700, mountain snowmobile. They have good quality & rated as best in class per the magazines & people in the snowmobile clubs speak highly of them.

To be honest, next spring I am looking at a new 4x4 for me, the two front runners will be the SP500HO & the new Kawasaki 650cc.

Enjoy what you ride, because if the greenies are trying to kick us off the public land.
