Mod trailblazer vs. Scrambler 500
#1
This may sound dumb but is there any chance in getting my trailblazer 250 to hang with a scrambler 500 or maybe beat it. I have an aaen pipe and clutch kit, ported, predator 42mm carb, uni air filter, and going to head-mill it .020. How do you think it will fare against it. Have nothing against scrambler 500's, they are very fun machines but my buddy always talks trash about my wheeler and nothing would make me happier then to beat him in a drag. I was some what close to him in top speed on the highway with just the pipe and porting. Am i dreaming or could it happen.

hi tblazer,
My name is Bryan and your question is interesting because i thought taking a smaller bike and moding it to beat a bigger bike was immpossible. Well i took my 2005 Polaris Trail Boss 330 4-stroke and started doing things to my bike to beat my brothers 2004 Polaris Sportsman 600 twin. Well it happend first i took the spark arrestor off and made a custom exhaust with just a baffle, then i put a 39 mm carb off a sportsman 500 HO, after that I bored it out to 370cc, then i started running 110 octane fuel it,then i put a high flow air box on it and a k&n air filter and the next weekend we raced and i pulled away from him on the stating line for about 170 feet then he slowly crept up on me until he past me at the finish line. This was on my steet that is about 350 feet long.
So i think if you try you can beat that Scrambler if you ceep trying because ur bike is 2-stroke if i am not mistaken so good luck!

WE have both a modded TB and a 500 Scrambler and I dont think you wil be able to mod the 250 to beat a 500 but you can get it to where it can hold its own.Ther is about a 10 mph differance in our top speeds. If you really want o beat the 500 get you a 400 Trailblazer or 400 Scrambler.

it might be possible, you just have to hit top speed faster then him. high comp piston, bored out, pipe, clutch kit, different carb, make it lighter, possibly change the sprockets to acheive a higher top speed...there are a bunch of things you could do...its just do you have enough money..and if you do, why not just get a predator

A 250 can easily be built to beat 500 and 400's. If you have the money it would cost between $1200-$1800. My 250 would smoke stock 400-500's with the AAEN stage 5 kit. If you got the HPD reed conversion race mod, AAEN stage 5 kit, or a stroker motor you can beat the 4-500's.

how did u get a 42 mm carb off a pred to work. thats a huge carb bigger than most 400s run. most ppl only run a 34-36 mm carb on the 250s some run a 38 but not very many. ive got a 34mm flatslide comming soon, just waitin for ups to show up.

I took the stock carb holder and heated it up and stuck a big ball like thing in it and left it for awhile and it stretched out perfect. The passage way is stretched nicely so that the air and fuel won't get get caught in the inside edges. You would probably have to see it to believe it because if you took a trailblazer carb mount and held it up to the pred carb you think it would never work. Haven't taken up the road yet, since 4th of july weekend, but i ran it in the shop and it seemed to run strong. Had to make an adjustment on the shifting rod though because it didn't leave enough room for the carb to sit where it wanted to. I'm hoping for the best, that it will run clean and strong. I guess i'll find out this week after i get my head milled. 2manytoys, i should surpass the aaen stage 5 it if every thing hooks up good. I know that includes everything i have listed without the even bigger carb and soon to be head milled. And for the money issue, the only things i have had to buy is the filter, pipe and clutch kit. Everything else i have got and had done free with my so-called "connections".
Oh ya, whats the fun of getting a 400 and beating him just like that. I'm the kinda person that likes to work on machines to give me something to do and get smaller cc engines to outperform larger ones.
