I tested my compression today with a compression tester from autozone. since I don;t have the electric start I had to pull the cord to test it, Do I just give the cord one good yank or do I yank it acouple times?
here are the numbers I got.
one yank -90psi
multiple yanks- 120psi.
If im correct I should be seeing 150psi.

ok well thats a higher reading and means my rattle may be something else.
Do I pin the throttle wide open or no? I guess I should of read the instructions.
Im wondering if my pings are related to timing, Im going to try retarding my ignition just to check.

You can pull it as many times as you like to achieve the highest reading, but the quicker it gets to the highest reading the better shape the rings are in. If you're compression is still low you can put a capful of oil in it and then retry and see if the compression comes up, if so the rings are bad.
