I've owned just about every big bore made except a Honda and a Yamaha. I'm in the market for one again. I took the approach of wiping the slate clean of old perceptions and closely studying every available big bore available. I almost committed to buying a Grizzly the other day but backed out because I felt I needed more time to make the right decision.
HELP ME DECIDE!!!
I want a big bore but I don't want to pay $8,000 or more for it. I ride in river basins that include high water and thick mud. I also have a 1,500 acre dear lease. Speed used to be my most influential factor when purchasing a big bore but not anymore. I want very decent power and lots of comfort. All these factors point to either a Grizzly or a Sportsman. I CAN'T DECIDE!!

Okay i have not ridden a grizzly let but have ridden other yamahas and they have not as good of a ride as the sportsman. I have a sportsman 700 and the awd is amazing in mud. We have mud pit that swallows all the quads around here except the sportsman. All the quad riders come to us when they are stuck to pull them out. Only a sportsman can do that. I'm not sure how a grizzly is in the mud but i would put my money on a sportsman anyday..

I bought a new 2005 660 grizzly in may of this year kept it 2 months traded to a 8oo sportsman.....The grizz was ok in the smooth stuff good power but the front suspension is a joke...7000.00 atv with a .25 cent front end...would beat ya to death in the rough stuff..

i rode a 660 grizzly and 700,and 600 sportsman before i bought my 600 sportsman. i think any rider who rides a lot who can put aside the rivalry thing would say polaris is king in mud no matter what they ride. before you decide on a 700 ride the 600 too. it's got a much better low end than the 700 but the 700 is better on top end. if i remember right the 600 has a 3.75 or somewhere in that range ratio front and rear where the 700 is a full ratio smaller at around 2.75 front and rear. the sportsmans smoke the grizzly in towing too. having said all this for all out haulin sweet *** i liked the kawasaki 700 the best. its the lightest at 600 pounds compared to 732 for the 600 and 738 for the 700 sportsman.
