I have seen a few 2000's still around priced for $4000 and below. In our area at least the dealers don't seem to be coming down too much off retail for 2001's. Go to Polaris' website to the dealer locator and find as many close dealers as possible to find the best deal.

Thanks for all the valuable input. I purchased the Explorer 4x4 last Friday. My son and I both love it. I was really surprised by the 2-stoke's acceleration, speed and handling. The steering is much ligher than my SP 500.

Any tips on maintenance, breakin procedures and HP accessories appreciated.

Thanks,

I own a 00 Xplorer 400cc 4x4,I love it.The only real problems are the chain.Frequent adjusts were a common occurance. The dealership installed a new concentric drive unit at no cost to me.The front sprocet also wore.I beleive that Polaris will warrenty the chain and sprocets for me.Because I like to mud alot, this could be my LAST chain driven quad if the new chain and sprockets dont hold up.I like most everything else about this quad, power is great to,
Bill
