Default shock adjustment

I noticed on my '05 SP 500 that there is an adjustment on the shocks, is there any advantage to moving this up or down. I ride double most the time and under acceleration it squats down alot.

Default shock adjustment

thats the rear preload adjustment and will make it firmer and have less squat.
