Hey RJF
Maybe you can find someones 04 or 05 sportsman to ride to compare the ride quality to yours. The 04 I rode this week was very plush. Also try Riding a newer scrambler also. If you do want a sport bike though the scrambler can't be beat for ride quality.

I like the scrambler. i think the seat is comfortable and the shocks ride well for stock. the seat is kinda narrow tho so it rides you up a little bit, but it isnt bad. The sportsman has a wide seat so you arent so uncomfortable. i think the sp has softer shocks tho. like stated above, adjust the pre load on the rear shock a little. your shocks might have shock oil leaks too, so check the oil level.

The scramblers after 04' have a different seat. it is wider and more comfortable. I can ride all day and I never get soar from that, its the jumping, wheelies, and rough trails that does me in. When I ride I usualy only take 2-3 breaks a day for like 10-15 min. It amazes me when I see people pay $22 to ride and only ride half the day if that. Last time I went out the 3 guys next to me came with only 3 hours left to ride. They went out for about an hour and then came back, relaxed and ate. One even took a nap. Every time I drove by the lot I saw them there. They ended up going back out for about 45 min and then left. Seems like a waste of $22 to me.

And will snap right in place on the older bikes. It's only wider at the back, I think.

Well, my dad and I did get to ride a 2005 700 SP at the dealership and noticed it was a LOT smoother, but I thought they did a lot of work with the suspension in '05? I figured it was like comparing apples to oranges with an '02 to an '05?....

You mention to ride a newer Scrambler.....is the ride any better on an '05 Scrammy than an '04? I looked at the specs and the '04 seems to be the same exact quad, basically no changes. Right? My Scrammy in an '04, and should be here Monday or Tuesday. Bought it in AZ and am still waiting on the dealer to get it shipped to me.

OK, heres another question. Why does my dad's '05 Grizzly ride so smooth, much smoother than our 700SP? Don't get me wrong, I'm a HUGE fan of Polaris, but I can't deny that the Grizz is the best riding out of our half dozen ATV's. How close in ride quality is the Scrambler to the Grizzly? They are only 29lbs difference in weight.
