I have a 96' and I am loving the ride... my dads 92 Polaris 4x4 350.. i guess its the Xplorer?? I don't know, it doesnt have a name on it, just a big 4x4 sticker and it has a little bit of a smoother ride but the scrambler is much much easier to control.
I had a blaster... I rode it just about every day for a year, hate, hate, hated it, with the rest of all our yamahas we have had... we maintain them and keep the clean the best we possibly clean, we clean up and grease before every ride, but yet the yamahas still broke down, we take care of our polaris's just the same and have never had a problem, my dad's 92 still runs absolutely perfect. The suspension is nothing at all compared to the scramblers btw.

I almost feel the same way.

Our 700 Sportsman and my Scrambler seem to ride almost identical. Our Xplorer seems to almost ride smoother than both for some reason.

No worries about the racks, they didn't change over the years. The 05 seat widens out a little in the back. It stabilizes passengers a little better. I hardly ever sit down when I ride though so to me the seat is just to cover the air box lid.
