Who has installed an anti-theft switch? How did you do it? I'm a little nervous about leaving my machine on the trail unattended.

can't you just take out the key for the same effect? Provided it has a key you can always splice into the hot wire and put a hidden switch somewhere so if the switch isn't on then the key won't work.

Atv keys are like car keys. Someone always comes up with a way to duplicate them or make a master. A hidden switch on the ground wire is the answer, but I was wondering if anyone had done it and where they tapped in, what kind of switch, placed the switch, etc.

Right, I never think about that much security for my quad but you are right, in most areas you need it.
If I was worried about theft I'd invest in a true alarm system for your quad. Any switches you put in can be found and bypassed with a little electrical knowledge. A good alarm will alert anyone around that it is being tampered with and IMO be well worth the extra expense over a simple switch.

I'd go for a thick cable lock to lock it to a tree. And insurance. Even if they can't be started, they're still easily towed.

The switch on my anti theft system is on the side of the grip aka safety button on my 9mm.If you ride in an area that someone will mess with your brokedown or unattended quad I would find a better place to ride.

Well i'm somewhat paranoid about theft to, BUT ONLY OF MY BUDDIES!if they want to ride my quad they can all go out and buy some scramblers lol..i have a few things i do. Pull the Key, i have a Tether Kill Switch(so i just take that with me) i unplug a few things under the hood and on the handle bars, and shut off the gas to...but i only do that when we go on group rides cuz i hate it when my buddy's take my QUAD! So u dont necesiarly have to install some anti theft stuff, sure u can, but just a few wires unpluged will keep anybody puzzled on why it wont start, oh add turing the kill switch on

The kill switch is a good one, believe it or not! I spent like 30 seconds trying to figure out how to start my 05 Scrambler after years of riding a 99 where you pushed the kill switch up to start it. Or just buy a Kawasaki. They might figure out how to get it to start but then they've gotta figure out how to get it in gear. lol
