Default New tires for sportsman400

Looking for new tires for my sportsman. I'm gonna go 25", I don't want to lose too much power. I need one thats good in the mud, great in the snow. Was looking at either the 589's or mudlite XL's (as most people do). Don't have the money for a wheel and tire kit, so I'm just going to get tires for the stock rims. I should go with (front) 25x8x12 and (rear) 25x10x12, correct? I think I want stock size and width.

How much can I get the tires mounted for (about)? At walmart? At the gas station?

Thanks
ty

Doesnt your dealer have the stock tires for your bike or similar i think they sell a bunch of different tread styles for your 400.

I SAID your dealer should have any 25" tire that you wanted in what ever tread style that any company makes makes for that 12" wheel that would fit on your 400!!?? Your dealer should have 589s i think or they have mudlites. You should be able to get them mounted at a tire store for CHEAP!!Like 5.00+ and sorry if you didnt understand that last post for some REASON??Sure hope this HELPS.

Lol gotcha now... kinda tired.

So my real question is will a 25x10-12 rear Mudlite XL be too much? Will be small being 1 inch thinner than the stock 489's?

Do you mean the tire will be too much money or for your bike because i dont know the price and are your stockers 25s or 26s.

I'm asking if its too much for my 400. I have 25" 489's stock.

I just don't want to lose to much power in the mud. I'm not really worried about it anymore, I think I'll be fine with 25's.

thanks

no they should make you loose any power because i tried my friends on my 400 and i couldnt tell any difference in power but i took them off and put my stocks back on because where i live its 135 degrees in the day now and it gets down to 110 degrees at night if we're luck so out here it is pointless to have the mudlites but where u live its perfect for snow. Just my 2 1/2 cents.GOOD LUCK on your choice.

Thanks, bob.

Think the mudlite XL's are a lot better than the stock 489's? I am buying new tires as an upgrade, not a replacement. My old ones are still good, so I am hoping for some better performance. Would 589's be better? The trails I ride are 50/50 hardpack/mudbogs.
