Default Polaris Died!

I was pulling my cj-5 up the driveway, everything was fine, parked the machine, hopped on it later to to ride it, fired up and died like it was out of gas. So i filled it up and still nothing, wouldnt fire or anything, shot ether into intake just to see if it would fire, nothing. So i pulled the plug, and checked for spark, with the old plug and a new one, It sparks for a second right away, and then nothing! So i let it sit for a week, went out to fire it up, it idles but thats it, if you touch the gas it dies. Any ideas on where i should start? I am thinking really weak spark, I did have water in my recoil cover, so i drained that. I am new to the small engine thing. Do i just pull the recoil cover to get at the ignition components? I am thinking they may be dirty from the water that was in there, as it looked like rusty water.
Thank you.

Default Polaris Died!

I pulled the cover, and the flywheel is really rusty, I have not been able to pull the flywheel itself yet though. Will rust on the flywheel and magnets cause what i described? also, how do i actually test if my throttle safety is what is causing my no spark situation?

clean the flywheel with emery paper. Take the top off of the throttle box above the thumb throttle and adjust the slack so that there is just a little slack in the cable.

I just did both of those things about an hour ago, still no spark. I just adjusted the throttle until the lever had about 2mm of slack. Does anyone have access to a repair or FSM for this model or similar 425 that could tell me what to check for? I am looking to test the coil, stator, and whatever other iginition items that i can. I have to order a repair manual and that will take almost two weeks.
