Sportsman 500 spark problem (electric only)
#1
I'm working on my friend's Sportsman 500 (don't remember which year).
The starter does turn but there is no spark. With the pull starter, if the engine turns at similar speed as the electric starter, there is no spark too. But if I pull it HARD, there is some spark.
We can start the engine with a hard pull but we can not start it with electric starter !!!
Does someone have any idea ? durty flywheel ? magneto problem ?
Thanks, Pierre

Sorry, my english is not very good. I do believe you !!
Did you see it in the past ?
You said : "that's where I'd start.", that's why I asked if someone else had another idea.
I will try to remove the recoil but I don't have time now.
Thanks, Pierre

I removed the recoil housing today and you were right, the pick up coil was bent.
I was trying to figure out how could this happen (into a closed housing) but I saw the starter have been changed. Maybe a loose part did it...
Excuse me again and thanks for your help !!
