My buddies new SP500 has probably less than 25 hrs on it and the rear brakes appear to be metal to metal. I told him to buy EBC brakes but I wonder if Polaris would warranty it due to the extremely low mileage?

They should, but that depends on the dealer and how persistent your friend is.

My front and rear brakes were gone in the first 100 miles of use on my 99 500cc Sportsman.I did get the dealership to warrenty them, after alot of bitching.

Polaris makes three types of brakes,

1.soft
2.medium
3.Severe duty

Im pretty sure they use the soft pads on all their stock quads, they SUCK.

I have found that the severe duty pads last ALOT longer.Go aftermarket with the rears.Polaris will sell you BOTH front SEVERE duty pads for 35 dollars, but they want 53 dollars for stock rear pads,go figure?,

Polaris will warranty brakes one time while the bike is still under factory warranty. If you dealer tells you they won't, he is just too lazy to call the warranty line to check. I just got mine done for free last week.

Hey Bill,
I included a break in procedure with the pads. Its very important that you follow it. And if there are any problems, please let me know ASAP. I will make it right or refund.
Let me know when they arrive.
Bill, do you have an email? If so, please send me a note at one of the following addresses:

bethandgary@telepak.net
gbox@hawcomfg.com
sales@boxbrakes.com

I'll answer to any of them. One is home, one is work, and the other I get in both places.

Good luck,
Gary Box
