I just went to the dealer today looking for a used 4x4 and this is what I came up with- A 2004 Polaris 600 w/ 107 miles that was yellow in color. I couldn't believe it but the price was just $4,000! The quad looked and ran great and the only thing the dealer said was "it was dropped off of something". The dealership put a new frame and suspension the the sportsman and kept everything else (even the plastic) original. I drove it and it seemed to ride nice. The only problem is I would have to sell my 2002 rancher 350 es 4x4 to get it. Would that 600 polaris be worth it? One thing i noticed though, it was not nearly as powerful as my prairie

well the 600 has been discontinued for 05, and the 500 H.O. is actually faster than the 600, but the 600 has just a tad more torque, if your looking for something that has power and can play around with your prarie get a 700, its worth the few extra dollars

my best freind has a 700,and for a big bike, that thing is FAST,,,,"before" i put the 27" wheel kit on my Grizz,i flat out ate him up off the line, but when his 700 got wound up,he not only could catch me but would walk right by me,and ive had my Grizz up to 68 on the road

also the 700 is a great mud machine, would be better with an after market tire, but that goes for all bikes, stock tires last too long before you can justify replacing them, lol

one thing you all may be able to help me with,,,,,

i have 2 freinds that both have Sportsman 500 HO's,,,,,one is a pretty fast bike,,,,the other isnt any where near as fast as the other,,,,they are 2 years seperating them, and from what we can tell, the only diferance is colar, and the bumper styles

any ideas why this may be? i mean one is considerably slower than the other

first off the grizz has a really unaccurate speedo so you were probablly only goin 60-62 at the most which is where the grizz usually tops out at

what years are the sportsman... if i recall correctly the newer sportsmans are a little bit slower because of a new clutch setup but a little faster off the line
