2000 Polaris Scrambler 400 4x4, the best of both worlds.....
by james.dedik, Jul 03 '00
Pros: 4X4, reverse, 2-stroke
Cons: heavy, predictable

A Little on my Situation
The Polaris Scrambler 400 4X4 is a great all around ATV. I live in the North Hills of Pennsylvania where I get a great deal of use out of the 4X4 feature of this machine. I have owned quads in the past, so I was...

Pros: High power, best 4X4 system, ease of use.
Cons: A bit heavy due to 4X4 system, you'll want to ride it a lot making your wife miss you unless you buy 2!

I bought this ATV because it has a great reputation among ATV riders. I
studied all the models and chose the Scrambler for it's low price, great power, ease of use, mechanical toughness. The 400 is a 2 stroke so it's easy to make it more powerful by...

Sport or Utility?

Pros: big 2 stroke and an auto tranny that can shift better than any human can
Cons: the brakes are a bit weak

When looking for a new quad that could help manage our property as well as ride for fun, I came across the Scrambler 400. I'm a fan of 2 strokes, lets face it, the new 4 strokes are fast, but nothing puts out the HP like a 2 stroke!

The...

Heavy But enough power to compensate

Pros: Biggest 2-stroke made, its not a banshee, auto trans. easy to gain aftermarket HP
Cons: the weight,thats it though

I bought my machine used, for a reasonable price and it was a great investment,i left it stock at first,i wanted to get a banshee but i didnt like the price tag so i went and bought a bunch of aftermarket performance parts, including,FMF Gold series...

Pros: Size & Power
Cons: Weight

I bought this vehicle to have a sporty go-anywhere quad. I really like the solid feeling of the Scrambler 400 even on the jumps. It is a heavy machine and if you don't get the nose up early you will not get the benefit of landing on the plush rear shock...

2000 Polaris Scrambler 400 4x4
by polarisman2006,Dec 12 '03
Pros: Fun to drive, Great in mud, Dependable, Can keep up with a 400ex,
Cons: -Weighs as much as a tank (not really), -More of a sport than utility quad

I am 15 years old and I just picked up a 2000 Scrambler 400 4x4 and it is AWESOME!!!! Right when I got home and took it off the trailer I could pop wheelies no problem and the only aftermarket part is the Hot Seat pipe. Plus my friend has a Arctic Cat 500 4x4 and mine will go through more. Also it is a very dependable machine. I went out two days ago and it was about 25 degrees in my garage and it started on the first try!! One mistake i did do already is put in some farm gas and it took about 15 min. to warm up? Then i went to a local dealer and they said you should always use premium with oil injected or with gas&oil mixed. If anybody was to ask me what quad they should get, I would say Scrambler hands down.
