you will shift the same like any other engine. It just when you 4th to 5 th gear you will keep the rpm a little higher to smooth out going in to 5th gear. Other then that you will not notice it over time becuse the engine will caught up to that gear fast. If you are ride on flat rocky road go to a LE model. If you ride over the road/mountain that I am riding at a slow speed, the TLD gear come in to play over the rocks. From what I have read from the guys that the speed is same on the top end. With TLD you will get off the line faster but the LE will be right behind you. It all has to do with the rider too.

Actually, I was talking to my Polaris dealer today (I went in to see the new outlaw but it's not out yet) and asked him about that very problem with the gears. Whatever problem there was, and there was a small one, was addressed on the 04 ( I believe it was the 04)when they changed a component in the gear box...something involvin a rachet-like device that gets rid of the shifting quirk they was talked about in the mags.

This thread is getting OT. The shifting problem was in the first models that came out in '03. This was fixed and is not a problem at all on newer models.
The question above is the big ratio difference between 4th and 5th on the '05 TLD Version Gearbox.

my dealer will get an Outlaw and some new 06's around the 30th of this month so probably around that time but my dealer said when they get the first outlaw it will be for show only because its the owner of the dealer's bike but he is going to show it till they get more.
