Default Front end popping & pulling???

I have a 97 425 mag, yep it is getting old, and yesterday while at my hunting club I started to feel and hard bump in the front end and hear a popping sound.

When I got home I took the front wheels off and the chain drive looks ok but I could not see anything loose.

I know this quad has been rode hard and put up wet but she has been a great ATV and well maintained, I would like to purchase a new one but would like to get another deer season or 2 out of it if possible but this does not sound/feel good at all.

Any ideas what the problem could be, a few years ago I broke the front sprocket and damaged the something else in the front end but have not had any problems with it since then(it was repaired by local Polaris dealer).

If this turns out to be an expensive repair I may look at a new atv, in that case could someone compare the 500 model to the 600 twin.

Thanks for any help guys

Could be the bearings in the front shaft, the front wheel bearings or CV joint.
