We build derbycars and have had to replace several, most on GM 12 bolt or 14 bolt and several Dana 44's. If you feel that you can do it and have the cpapabilities, the go for it. But 200 bones it cheaper than a day wasted struggling and ending up having to pay them in the end. Good luck.

Torque wrenches arent that expensive.

Actually, this one is a little more accurate (for me).

Have you done this before? I just want to check with someone I trust. The jeepers insist it is simple, but they are jeepers... if its on a jeep, its simple for them.
Its a piece of cake tyler, atleast it will be when your done.

All part of the learning curve, some call it paying your dues.
My dad's leaning towards bringing it to the dealer, but I'll play the "gain experience" card and win him over.

And $200 was just an estimate from the jeepers, they said about 100 per axle. We're gonna call the dealer tomorrow.

I agree with paying your dues. I have struggled through many a wrenching day. It's better to do it yourself and learn from your mistakes.

Yeah someone said that a craftsman will be about 70 bucks. I need one anyway for the wheelers, but I don't know if a 21" socket would be ideal for a quad?

Renting one may just be as expensive as purchasing one. Plus, I imagine there will be some sort of deposit. ANd with a Jeep, a torque wrench can come in handy in other areas.

Absolutely. and if nothing else you learn you cant work on cars. If you can you can sure save a lot of money and buy more toys.
