.........if you have to limit yourself to an '05, go for the 700EFI.
BTW, you can find a BUNCH of used 2005 700EFI and 500 in camo and other colors DIRT CHEAP on EBAYMotors.com. i can't see any good reason to buy a new '05 at this point. they have droped in value TOO MUCH already. just a quick review of Ebay will prove my point!
if you are going to go new, be smart and get an '06. in 2 years you'll take a real bath on the used '05.
GET THE 2006 500EFI!

Well, the decision is made! Got a 2005 500 H.O. in mossy oak camo finish with front and rear brush guard for about $5900 OTD. The ATV itself was $5644, then accessories, no tax. Got a chance to ride it at a friend's house, Man at the power!!! Plenty of power for what I need. My buddy has a 400 Sportsman and there is a definite power difference between his 400 and my 500 H.O.
The 2006 500 EFI whould have been about $6633 in camo finish, colors about $6333. I feel like I saved $1000. I am adding this to my Polaris family which includes the first Sportsman ever to hit the market, the 1993 350L. The 500 H.O has so much more power than the 350 (which still runs like a dream) that I am almost afraid of what kind of power 700 EFI would have. You guys riding the 700 and 800 EFI probably suffer from a little whiplash! I am thoroughly happy with my purchase and thank all who replied to this thread. I am the almost the world's worst when it comes to making a decision sometimes. My wife was no help saying, "Get which ever one you want." The 800 sure looked good for a moment!!! But I feel like I made the right buy.
Thanks again for the comments and messages on this thread!!
