700 EFI or 500 HO??
#1
Just looking for some feedback. I'm kicking the tires of the 500 H.O. and the 700 EFI. Both in camo. Main use is hunting, fishing, and trail riding. Trying to justify the extra cost of the 700 EFI vs. the "potential" buyers remorse if I purchase the 500 H.O. I know I probably can't go wrong with either machine. Any help with making a decision?? Please justify your thoughts and opinions. Thanks!

in 06 the 500 comes with efi so it should have some more kick
one thing i would point out if you are going on long trips deep in the woods for hunting and stuff there is no back up starter on the 700

I have both and both are very strong. Personally, I don't mind giving up a little (not much) fuel economy for the extra kick of the 700EFI. The throttle response is better and on some steep trails, that extra oomph is nice to have.
If you decide to go for the 500, I agree with others, the 500EFI is the way to go. The 500 has plenty of power for most riders.

the 500 HO EFI is not the same EFI system that is in the 700 and 800. The 7 & 8 is made by bosch and the new 500 is made by visteon. Just like all new stuff you might want to wait a year for the bugs to be worked out.

that's a tough choice, the 500 engine is rock solid and probably the best atv engine IMO. but you do get the extra power of the 700. If your looking at a 700 for the extra power then why not go all the way and get an 800. if it was me and i had to decide between the 500 and the 700 i'd take the 500 now if the choice was the 500 or the 800 I think I'd have to have an 800. I'm still waiting for an 800 scrambler myself.
