pred perfromance vs raptor performance
#11
I have never rode a preddy, but when they first came out i raced a stock one and it held its own. The power difference isnt that big, it just feels like the rappy is alot faster, as it isnt....just a little . $3,800 seems good to me, im looking at a 03 with a few mods, exhast and a 450r carb. it also has new black plastics and he is asking $3800 and i am interested.

Ive riddin both the pred & raptor. The pre felt alot more stable than the raptor. If you are alarger person the pred also seems to fit alot better than the raptor. I had my choice down to the pred and the ds 650 when i was looking. I went with the ds because the bike felt like it fit me better (6'2" 260lbs.). I really liked the pred also. I think you would be very happy with you choice. The 05 have reverse. Just something to think about.

If i was gonna buy brand new and finance then i would go with the new 700r, but since im gonna pay cash thats why i am looking for something used, i would love reverse, but its not a must. I didnt use it as much on my raptor as i thought i would thats why i am willing to compromise.

I had an 04 Pred TLD which I totaled, bent the frame. Rode a Raptor 660 when considering replacement. Im not a big Polaris over Yamaha, or vice vera, person, and actually prefer Honda all things equal as they are bulletproof, but the 660 is no where near the quad the pred is, stock to stock anyway, IMO. Just a lot rougher / less refined feeling. I ride dunes majority of time, and the Pred had plenty of power for me (5'11" - 215#) revved very nicely, and front end comes up with NO PROBLEM AT ALL. I think the 04 for $3800 is a fair deal if in good shape.
The 06 Raptor 700 is apparently another story, however, but alot more $$ too. I seriously considered the 700 for my next quad, but think I will go for another Pred, 06 if they hurry and come out with them. In fact the front end comes up so easy I think I will take the money I save from not buying the 700 and get an extended swing arm for the Pred, so I can keep the front down when cresting big dunes / hills. The Pred out of the box, IMO, is a lot better bargain and has a way better suspension then the 660. my $.02.

Thats sounds like a good deal to me. I have a buddy with a Raptor and he has the Alba full system, and I still can beat him in 300 ft. And he will also tell you he would rather have a Pred over his Raptor. I will agree with the Raptor has more low end then the Pred, but all you need is a sprocket change......40t on the rear is great, you can trail ride all day long in 3rd gear. Check this out, it might also help!

the Predetor TLD is technicly miliseconds faster than the Raptor 660. suprsingly, Dirtwheels gave an EXCELLENT review on both quads plus a review verses each other. a very interesting read

anouther draw back to the crapter is duel carb. i would hate to have to jet it twice a much as my pred. and i would choose the outlaw over the crapter 700. i understand your going used so do yourself a faver and get a pred. mine has only been in the shop once and that was my aftermarket cdi went bad. even after going off a cliff at 55 and smashing my pred it stilled fired right up .(once we pulled it out of the ditch) BORN AMERICAN BUY AMERICAN!
